Jahresmeeting der International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA)

Das jährliche Treffen der Mitglieder von ICMA fand in Rom statt. Als Haupthema wurde die Frage der Zukunftsperspektiven von ICMA in der maritimen Welt diskutiert: "A strategic review initiated by the Executive Committee will lead to in depth discussions of the foundational principles governing the Association. ICMA is unique in Christian faith:  it has for more than four decades succeeded in forging ecumenical relations across schisms that other ecumenical bodies have not been able to bridge.  ICMA now has the most diverse representation of traditions within the Christian Faith, united in the one faith in the God of Jesus Christ and the shared objective of serving merchant seafarers, fishers and their families." Als Vertreterin der Deutschen Seemannsmission e.V. nahm die Generalsekretärin Pfarrerin Heike Proske (Bremen) am Treffen teil. Als Verantwortliche für das "Seafarers Ministry Training" (SMT) war Diakonin Martina Platte (Hongkong) ebenfalls anwesend.
